Typing Emulation

Updated 2 weeks ago by Cris Villar

Create a more human User Experience by fully customizing the typing emulation of your landbot messages. Here's how:

The typing emulation consists of the three moving dots that show up before every message is sent:

To configure it, go to the Chatbot builder and select Power-Ups > Typing emulation:

When clicking on Typing Emulation, you'll see a menu like this:

The first thing you can do is turn off the typing emulation by clicking on the Typing emulation toggle on top.

If activated, you'll have the following options in terms of speed:

  1. Custom speed: you can configure how much time will the emulation last by modifying the average human reading speed (first field) and setting up a maximum delay (second field), great for long texts.
  2. Constant speed: the typing emulation will last a certain amount of seconds. By default, it's 0,5 seconds, but feel free to customize it!

This customization will affect every block on your chatbot. But, at the bottom of the menu, there's the possibility to customize each block separately. If you click on Make each message customizable, you'll see that every block shows the possibility to customize its delay, like this:

Click on Custom and a textbox to configure the delay in seconds for that specific message will appear:

And that's it! Finally, clarify that typing customization is available for the Welcome Message, Send a message and Ask a question type blocks, as those are the one seen by visitors.

Start adding a human touch to your landbots now! 👩💻
